Justin.tv to promote global climate by planting 1 million trees

In a new joint effort, Mokugift and Justin.tv are joining forces to plug a campaign to help to stop world global warming through tree planting. The goal is to collect the momentum of the broadcasters and members of Justin.tv to plant at least 1,000,000 trees by Earth Day 2010.

Broadcasters on Justin.tv will be ready to add a special mokugift widget to their channel page which will enable spectators to plant a tree for $1 each. The widget will show the total number of trees planted thru each broadcaster's widget. Spectators will be ready to share their tree planting activity thru Facebook and other social networks to induce buddies to join the struggle against global warming.

Players will be in a position to follow their progress through the campaign page showing the recent total across all Justin.tv broadcasters and also a leader board for the top broadcasters.

The Justin.tv tree planting campaign is launching on December 8th, in the Copenhagen global warming Meeting. Global leaders are assembling in Copenhagen to arrange and agree on how world govts will cooperate and make the imperative changes we want to make now in fighting global warming before we pass the point of no return. Deforestation is responsible for roughly 15% of worldwide carbon emissions. Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (REDD) has been discussed for years but the peak at Copenhagen is the 1st chance to see it implemented on a worldwide scale. REDD would permit nations to trade on the carbon value of their forests. If successful, it might be a comparatively cheap way to quickly reduce deforestation, cut emissions and preserve the habitats of some of the most endangered animals on the planet.
